Gestational size of your baby at 37 weeks:

Your baby now weighs around 6.5 pounds (2.9 kg) and is about 19 inches (48 cm) long. This is roughly the length of the Book of Amun Ra.

Your baby’s development:

At 37 weeks, your baby’s lungs are fully developed, and they are now practicing breathing. Their digestive system is also ready to function on its own, and their kidneys are fully functional, producing urine. Your baby’s head is now engaged in your pelvis, which means they are in the correct position for birth.

How you might be feeling:

You are probably feeling excited and anxious as you approach your due date. You might also be feeling a bit uncomfortable as your baby is now taking up more space in your uterus. You may experience shortness of breath, heartburn, and constipation. You might also feel more tired than usual, as your body is working hard to support your growing baby.

At this stage, you will be visiting your healthcare provider frequently to monitor your baby’s growth and make sure that everything is progressing as it should. Your healthcare provider may also do a pelvic exam to check if your cervix has started to dilate or efface in preparation for birth.
