Jurassic Park, Steven Spielberg’s iconic dinosaur extravaganza, is roaring back onto the big screen to commemorate its 30th anniversary.
Originally released on June 11, 1993, the film is set to captivate audiences once again in RealD 3D-equipped theaters across the United States and Canada starting Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 (with early showings on Thursday, Aug. 24, 4pm local time).
Jurassic Park: The Movie
The cinematic masterpiece, led by an incredible ensemble including Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough, revolutionized CGI effects and remains a testament to filmmaking brilliance. Its visuals, a balanced blend of CGI and animatronics, garnered Oscars for visual effects pioneers Dennis Muren, Stan Winston, and Phil Tippett.
I still watch Jurassic Park pretty regularly at home, and it remains timeless. I also just completed listening to the audiobook of the novel and am so excited to compare the movie and book. There are so many quotes pulled directly from the novel, I loved listening to it!
Jurassic Park: The Score
Not only did the visual elements shine, but the film’s sound also earned Oscars for Best Sound and Best Sound Effects Editing. The heart-pounding sound of the T. rex’s footsteps, paired with John Williams’ iconic score, created an unforgettable sensory experience.
If you don’t know me, I am a huge film score fan! I probably know the entire Jurassic Park score.
I have only ever seen Jurassic Park on the big screen once before, for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra “Movies in Concert” and it was epic! It was so amazing to hear the score performed by the orchestra while seeing the action on the big screen.
Jurassic Park in 3D
Revisiting Jurassic Park on the big screen, particularly in RealD 3D, promises an immersive adventure. The film’s 2013 20th-anniversary 3D re-release was captivating, but this upcoming screening is poised to take the thrills to new heights.
While 3D isn’t my usual preference, I’m open to being amazed.
As film distributor Universal Pictures emphasizes, “There’s truly no better way to see Jurassic Park than on the big screen.” The impact it left in 1993 solidifies its status as an everlasting classic. Now, RealD 3D cinema-goers have the chance to rediscover the magic.

My Jurassic Birthday Celebration
Tomorrow marks my 38th birthday! And what better way for me (a Jurassic Park fanatic) to celebrate than to see it on the big screen!! I plan on wearing my Ellie Sattler outfit, driving my Jurassic Park Jeep (I’m working on being part of the Jurassic Park Motor Pool) and bringing my family along for the fun!!
While I don’t get to be at Universal Orlando for my Birthday (for the UOAP Passholder Night August 26th), I’m still excited to be able to share in all the Jurassic Park fun!
