Pinspiration Day 8 – Christina

Today was a low of 40 and a high of 55 so I needed something to keep me warm, especially standing at the bus stop.  I typically wear tights most days in the winter and had to bring them out a little early this year.

  • White tee – J.Crew Factory
  • Argyle sweater – J.Crew Factory
  • Black skirt – Talbots
  • Black patterned tights – Target
  • Mary Jane sneakers – Sketchers via DSW
Overall I really liked the outfit but I think I need some accessories to brighten it up.  I find that no matter what time I wake up, I manage to use all the available time on various things and then have 4 min left to brunch teeth, put on shoes, pack lunch, and walk out the door.  How do you girls plan your accessories?  Do you do it the night before?  Do you plan it out while you shower so you know exactly what to grab?  Do you keep all your accessories where you can see them and do a quick visual scan as you are dressing?

  1. I keep my scarves and has on one self, and I have a rack where I keep all my necklaces:

And my rule for accessories is to NEVER overthink it. I put on my outfit, stand in front of my rack, and grab a necklace. Then I reach in my jewelry box for whatever earrings or bracelets vaguely match (I try to stick to either gold or silver, but other than that, I run with it). I don't wear many scarves, but I have the same philosophy. Pretty much the only thing I ask myself is, "Did I wear this yesterday?". Lol, being matchy-matchy in your accessories is overrated. Just have fun with it and don't over-plan.

  2. Btw, I love the argyle. If this were me, I would have pounced on my mother's long strand of chunky onyx beads and my silver enamel bracelet.
    And maybe a feather boa.
    Maybe not.

  3. I lay out all of my costume jewelry in a single layer in a dresser drawer so I can look at it quickly and keep my basic jewelry I wear most days on a tray on my bathroom counter. I typically plan out the outfit (with accessories) in my head either the night before or in the shower in the morning so I can throw it together quickly.

  4. All my necklaces hang from hooks in my bathroom, then I have a box on the vanity counter for my most-worn earrings and my watch, plus a few organizer trays in my linen closet full of rings, bracelets and earrings. As for scarves, I have two scarf hangers in my hall closet, as well as a box of purses, then a set of hooks by my side door for my most-used scarves and bags.
