Pinspiration Day 15 – Katie

“On Wednesdays we wear pink.” Since Mean Girls is one of the roughly five movies I can quote, (Mean Girls, The Godfather, The Sandlot, Sweet Home Alabama, and Princess Bride.  All I got – well, also a little Anchorman, but that’s more because of Stephanie than the movie itself!) I was all-in for this challenge.  That, and the bright, Barbie, lipstick-pink pencil skirt I acquired last month that I’ve yet to wear.

If I was intimidated by my red skirt, I was terrified about my pink skirt.  I’m pretty sure it’s the same pink as Stephanie’s dress and it is so very, very pink.  (Side note: I want Stephanie’s pink dress like crazy.  I would steal it off her if I could.  That’s some pink I could — after agonizing over it being too much — get into.)  And I am not a pink girl.  If you were to ask someone, they’d likely tell you that my favorite color is pink (they’d be wrong, it’s green) because the little bit of pink that I do have in my wardrobe is bright and bold.  If I’m wearing pink, it’s not going to be pale and subtle, it’s going to be pink.  My pink sweater, my pink-trimmed sneakers, my pink dress, my pink pants and my pink skirt are all pink.  And since I fear that pink has a tendency to come across as childish or girly or however you want to characterize it, I try to keep myself from looking like Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde in the office.  No matter how fabulous she may look, that much pink makes me a bit woozy.

This Pinspiration look (I believe it’s from JCrew) was right up my alley for my pink skirt.  Bright pink skirt matched with neutrals seemed to be the perfect way to debut my skirt.

I absolutely loved the way this outfit turned out!  I’m finding that my uniform really works for me, even if I need to mix it up a bit.  This pink pencil skirt (LOFT) went perfectly with this off-white blouse with a black woven pattern (LOFT).  I originally had a light grey cardigan on, but it didn’t look quite right, so I went with black (Target).  I finished off the look with nude pumps and an army green skinny belt (both from Target) and my leopard watch (Timex).  I felt polished and put-together all day and not once did I feel too pink, even with the brightness of this skirt.
