Today’s outfit had to do double-duty, as I found out around 10:30 this morning. Not only did I have a full day of work, but I was also invited to a networking event at the last minute that I was highly encouraged to attend. I was inspired by this look by Ann Taylor — a ruffled blouse and black skirt was perfect for a day at the office.
I went with my trusty black pencil skirt (Target) and a henley-style polka-dot blouse with a ruffled neckline (Old Navy), a pair of opaque black tights (no idea) and my favorite black heels (Anne Klein). I look a little wrinkled in this photo, just before I went off to lunch, which I was unaware of, so I probably need to keep that in mind the next time I wear these pieces. I was afraid I’d be a little underdressed at my event since all the guys I went with were in jackets, but I think I did okay. Could have used a blazer (there’s that theme again!), but I would have been best off with a pair of wedges — my heels kept sinking into the lawn! I really think that events held on lawns need to give all the ladies a heads up — flats or wedges would have been much better!
I think the outfit looks great for a networking event, professional but not stuffy!
