Do you know how to pick out a symphony outfit? Do you wear something super fancy and elegant, or just normal classy date night attire?
Well, you don’t want to be the worst dressed person there (no holes in your jeans). So why not take the opportunity to wear something gorgeous?
And even if it isn’t a “Movies In Concert” performance like those held by the Atlanta Symphony, who says you can’t incorporate some nerdiness into your outfit 😉
Fortunately, Isaac and I do date nights fairly regularly. But usually they are something simple like dinner or a movie where we don’t really dress up or go all out.
But as Isaac explains, we now have elegant scheduled date nights for the next couple months. We know exactly when they are, we plan for someone to watch the girls, and we act classy in a way that we normally wouldn’t for date nights.
For me, attending the Symphony is a chance to wear something fabulous and feel fantastic! And why not incorporate my nerd style into it while there?
My Nerdy Inspiration
If you have seen and loved the Wonder Woman movie as I did, the blue ball gown Diana wears to the gala is stunning. I hoped to mimic that exact dress in my attire for the symphony.
I own/made several infinity dresses: blue, green, white but my favorite is the dark purple one that one of my bridesmaids wore for our wedding. It is long and flowy, and I adore the color (which is why I picked it for my bridesmaids).
I spent my Saturday morning playing around with tying the straps many ways. Many were too overly complicated that ended up with random knots of fabric. Others exposed way too much skin with the possibility of flashing other symphony guests unintentionally.
The Final Result
Finally in the afternoon, I gave up recreating the dress precisely. I instead took take some inspiration from the asymmetrical shoulders and the flattering waist cinching.
I then tried to emulate one of my friend’s sister-in-law who can apparently do the best bump hair (while using a great deal of hairspray). Nailed it!
We enjoyed the high of a evening and overnight to ourselves (thanks Mommy and Daddy). Lyft drivers chauffeured us around. We ate at New Realm. We enjoyed a fantastic uplifting symphony performance on what could have been just a cold, wet and dreary night.
Gorgeous!
Thanks Mommy!
