Villain Con Minion Blast at Universal Orlando

Experiencing the thrill of being one of the first to ride a new attraction at Universal Orlando is an unforgettable experience. For example, right now is July 2023 and Universal has announced that Villan-Con in MinionLand will be opening this summer. From the anticipation leading up to the grand opening to the adrenaline rush of being among the first to brave the twists and turns, it’s a moment that every theme park enthusiast dreams of. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the strategies and insider tips that will increase your chances of being one of the lucky few to ride a new attraction before the crowds arrive.

Subscribe to Universal Email Notifications

To be at the forefront of new ride openings, it’s crucial to stay informed about the latest announcements from Universal Orlando. Follow official Universal Orlando social media accounts, subscribe to their newsletters, and regularly visit their website to ensure you’re among the first to know when a new attraction is on the horizon. Universal Orlando also has a Passholder specific Facebook page that has special information for passholders before the general public knows about it.

Participate in Soft Openings

During the testing phase of a new attraction, Universal Orlando may conduct soft openings, offering select guests via a signup link the opportunity to experience the ride before its official opening. In May 2021, we were fortunate to receive an exclusive invitation to the Passholder soft opening of the Velocicoaster. Determined to experience the ride firsthand, we embarked on a whirlwind trip, flying down and returning on the same day. The effort was undoubtedly worth it as the thrill and excitement of riding the Velocicoaster (twice!) made the journey unforgettable.

Technical Rehearsal at Universal Orlando

Check while in park for Technical Rehearsals

Keep an eye on passholder Facebook pages and other forums where daily information about what is happening in the parks is often shared. For the Villian-Con Ride, Universal Orlando has been conducting limited Technical rehearsals for guests in the park at random times over the weekend. Although the App states that the ride is not yet open, there’s a chance it might be accessible if you happen to stop by. Keep your eyes peeled for unexpected opportunities to experience the ride firsthand! If you’re lucky enough to be in the park at the right time, you could be among the first to ride.

Engage with Team Members

Universal Orlando’s team members are a wealth of knowledge and can provide valuable information about new attractions. Strike up conversations with them, ask about any insider tips or updates regarding the ride’s opening, and you might gain valuable insights that can enhance your chances of being one of the first to ride.

Plan Your Visit Strategically

Once a ride officially opens, timing is everything when it comes to being among the first to ride a new attraction. Consider planning your visit during the off-peak season or on weekdays when the park is typically less crowded. This increases your chances of minimizing wait times and getting on the ride quickly. When Hagrid’s first opened, the lines were 6 hours long. You want to try to find when times are not that long.

Arrive Early

To secure your spot at the front of the line, arrive at the park well before its opening time. This way, you’ll be one of the first guests allowed entry and can make a beeline for the new attraction. Consider checking the park’s opening time and plan accordingly to ensure you’re among the first to enter.

Utilize Early Park Admission

If you’re staying at one of Universal Orlando’s on-site hotels or have an Annual Pass with early park admission benefits, take advantage of this perk. Early park admission allows you to enter the park before the general public, giving you a head start in making your way to the new attraction if it is open during those early park hours.

Join Virtual Queue or Reservation Systems

For highly anticipated new attractions, Universal Orlando may implement virtual queue or reservation systems. These systems allow guests to secure a designated time slot to experience the attraction without waiting in a physical line. Stay updated on the park’s announcements and check the App and be ready to reserve your spot as soon as the system opens.

Be Prepared for Possible Delays

Despite your best efforts, unforeseen circumstances can cause delays in the opening of a new attraction. Whether it’s technical issues or weather-related concerns, it’s essential to be flexible and patient. Stay connected with Universal Orlando’s official channels for updates and reschedule your visit if necessary to ensure you don’t miss out on the experience.
