Discover Universal Orlando’s streamlined entry with the new Photo Validation System, making faster access into Islands Of Adventure
Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure has introduced a modern and efficient way to enhance your entrance experience – Photo Validation. This streamlined process replaces the traditional finger scan and accelerates your access at the park’s entry. Currently in Technical Rehearsal on a limited and unscheduled basis, as a UOAP I’m thrilled with this coming enhancement, so let me tell you more about it!
What is Photo Validation?
Currently in Technical Rehearsal (as of October 2023), Photo Validation is designed to make your entry into Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure smoother and quicker. It involves capturing a photo during your initial ticket or annual pass use and creating a unique Photo Template based on your facial features. This template is then used for future entries.
I know that I am I’m eagerly anticipating this new option. 🎉🎢 Currently, the process of waiting for guests in front of me at park entry points to locate their tickets on their phones, try to remember which finger they used, switch fingers, then switch hands, all while still struggling with the fingerprint scanner, can drive me bonkers! 🤯
Using Photo Validation
While Photo Validation is the new standard (other Orlando Parks have already implemented this), it remains optional. If you prefer not to use it, you can opt-out at Park Entry or Guest Services. In this case, you’ll continue to access the park through the same lanes as guests who do use Photo Validation. Adults who opt-out will need to present a photo ID to validate their ticket.
Data Collection and Storage
The data collected through Photo Validation includes your initial photo and subsequent Photo Templates, which are kept for no longer than six months after your ticket’s expiration. This storage duration aligns with the previous finger scan process. See more about this at Universal Orlando’s Privacy Information Center.
Farewell to Finger Scans
As Universal continues to innovate, the finger scan process is being replaced by the more efficient Photo Validation system. 👆 While the finger scan helped with re-entry and fraud prevention, Photo Validation offers the same advantages with hopefully added speed.
Are you excited for Photo Validation?
Universal Orlando’s Photo Validation system is your gateway to a faster and hassle-free entry experience at Islands of Adventure (and hopefully all Universal Orlando Parks in the future). Whether you opt for it or not, your access to the park will remain secure and efficient. So, get ready to scan, smile, and go – making the most of your Universal adventure.
