I am back from an awesome long weekend in Asheville,
NC. It was definitely more difficult
working the Pinspiration challenge into hiking and enjoying the mountains, but
I think it was a success.

Asheville is about 300ish miles north of Atlanta, so
autumn was already in full swing. I tend
to have a pretty set wardrobe during fall that I don’t vary from all that much
(boots/skinny jeans/blouse or tights/sweater dress/boots). It is such a short season in Atlanta after
all. I took this weekend to play around
with accessories in an attempt to mix up my usual go-to look.

Day 1 was travel day so I tried to keep it
comfortable. The inspiration shot for
this outfit played with a very neutral palette.
Instead of skinny jeans like I normally wear, I went with khaki cords
with a basic white tee (and boots of course).
I had originally paired this with an ocelot patterned scarf, but had
issues figuring out how to wear it.
Later in the week Katie (also doing this challenged) schooled me in the
fine art of scarf tying, but it was too late to make into this look. I opted for my brown faux leather jacket
instead. This is not my favorite
look. While it’s not horrible, I miss
color.

Day 2 we went on a haunted pub crawl of Asheville. Since we were going to be walking the bulk of
the night, comfort was key. The
inspiration for this look was a dress I saw on Anthropologie’s website. I loved the styling of this more than
anything. Since the goal of the weekend
was to mix up my usual fall look with accessories, I went with a pretty basic
blue dress. To it I added a bold
statement necklace and purple tights (again I wore my brown boots…they are
crazy comfy). I had originally added a
belt, but decided against it since we were going to be eating a big dinner and
then hit up any number of pubs. This was
probably my favorite look of the weekend.
I love the blue and purple together.
It was just so much less expected than a standard black tight.

Day 3 was game day for Georgia Tech, so we went into town
to find a sports bar to watch the game in.
By Saturday, it was pretty chilly and I was bound and determined to make
a scarf work. Went with my basic
sweater/jean/boot combo, but added the aforementioned scarf from day 1. Thanks to Katie’s styling help, I now know
how to tie a scarf. I really liked this
outfit too. It was warm and comfy and,
most importantly, still stylish.

I am now really looking forward to what is typically one
of my least inspired fashion seasons.
Can’t wait to keep trying and pining new looks!
