I’ve been scrolling through TikTok lately and I am officially concerned. Apparently, there’s a whole demographic of people who “can’t find” Diagon Alley. One person even claimed they visited the parks three times before they realized there was an entire wizarding world hidden behind a brick wall.
I find that physically hard to believe. You’re telling me you didn’t see the crowds of people in robes disappearing into a wall? But okay, I’ll play nice. If you’re a first-timer, the Universal Studios wizarding world entrance to Diagon Alley is intentionally unassuming. If you aren’t looking for the magic, it looks like a maintenance tunnel or a very fancy bathroom entrance. Here is the definitive guide on how to actually find it.
If you want to find it without looking like a lost Muggle, here is the expert breakdown.
How to Actually Get There
First things first: make sure you’re in the right park. I know it sounds obvious, but Islands of Adventure has Hogsmeade. Diagon Alley is strictly a Universal Studios Florida residency in the London area of the park.
If you’re coming from the front of the park, head toward the back. You’ll have to walk past the Fast & Furious – Supercharged exit—and for the love of all things holy, do not stop there. Keep moving for your own sake. Once you hit the London waterfront, you’ll see the Knight Bus and King’s Cross Station. Diagon Alley is right there on your left, hidden behind that “unassuming” brick wall.

Most people think there’s only one way in, but because I have a very particular agenda when I go, I know there are actually three entrances to Diagon Alley:
- The Brick Wall: This is the “iconic” one. It’s the largest, most obvious, and where you get that “wow” moment when you turn the corner. I love bringing newbies through here just to watch their faces.
- The Under-Theater Archway: Tucked right next to the brick wall, under the theater area. It’s slightly less crowded and feels a bit more “street level.”.
- The Grimmauld Place Shortcut: This is on the side of the theater, closest to the 12 Grimmauld Place facade (where you can see Kreacher in the window!).
Pro Tip: If you’re coming from the MIB or Simpsons area, we almost always use the side entrance. It’s the ultimate shortcut when we are trying to avoid the main gate crush and need to get to The Hopping Pot immediately for a butterbeer or some beef pasties.
Don’t Even Get Me Started on Knockturn Alley
While I’m shocked people miss the main entrance, I’m actually surprised more people don’t talk about missing Knockturn Alley. It’s one of my absolute favorite spots to turn off my brain and just soak in the atmosphere. It’s dark, it’s cool, and it’s the best place to escape the Florida sun.
We have to talk about the shrunken heads, though. I mentioned the singing ones earlier—RIP to a legend—but they actually got removed with the rollout of the 2nd generation interactive wands. My fangirl heart is a little broken, but the trade-off is actually pretty cool.
The new addition of spells in Knockturn is fantastic. Some of them get a bit crowded because they’re part of the new multi-step “adventures,” but they are worth the wait. My absolute favorite? Fighting a Dementor. You have to finish a couple of other adventures first to “unlock” it, but seeing that Dementor react to your spell is the peak “I am a witch” experience.
Stop Wandering, Start Seeing
If you’ve been to Universal Orlando three times and haven’t seen the dragon, please, I’m begging you: follow the people in the capes. Or just look for the girl by the London waterfront walking with extreme purpose—I’m probably taking the shortcut to beer and beef pasties.
